Rangers seals 55th Scottish League title in 2020/2021 season

This is a very proud moment for the Scottish league after 10 seasons of dominance by Celtic. On Sunday, 7th March 2021, Rangers sealed their 55th Scottish elite championship trophy after Celtic’s goaless draw at Dundee United.

Rangers has officially halted their 10 seasons triumph in the Scottish league. Mathematically, Celtic were still in the title race where a much needed 3 points from a visit to Dundee United will be a huge drag for Steven Gerard’s men.
Rangers’ bright 3- 0 victory when they hosted St Mirren on Saturday pushed much closer in sealing their first ever Scottish league title since 2011.

To mount a heavy pressure on the Scottish former champions Celtic, a hired plane displaying a banner with the inscription “Can you see us now?! #55titles”, subsequently organized by Rangers fans, flew over Dundee United home stadium just few moments before their kick off.

Apparently, Ryan Kent, Alfredo Morelos and Ianis Hagi all put the ball at the back of St Mirren’s net as Rangers vehemently extended their undefeated streak adding a huge boost to their title bid on Saturday. Also, St Mirren is the only top-flight team that has overpowered them this season where they won 3-2 in the League Cup back in December, 2020.

This will serve as Steven Gerrard‘s first official trophy as Rangers head coach since he was appointed for the role in 2018.

Steven Gerard and his men were chanted and sang praises to by tens of thousands of their fans at Ibrox ahead of their title party game on Saturday. The Rangers fans at the scene threw off flares and placed banners close to the stadium, defying coronavirus lockdown circumscriptions.

Moreover, Rangers next activity will be a trip to Czech Republic for their UEFA Europa League last-16 first-leg clash versus Slavia Prague (who knocked Leicester City out in the Last-32 round).

With no wasting time after this season’s league conclusion, the Scottish FA has revealed that Scottish Cup game fixtures will begin in this campaign, with Rangers welcoming Cove Rangers and Celtic hosting Arbroath or Falkirk on April 3rd 2021.
